1875 15c Treasury Dept. Official Issue Specimen Overprint Single

1875 15c dark brown Webster Treasury Department, no gum as issued blue specimen overprint single. Only 75 sold to the public! The Official Issues specimen overprint stamps were produced by the Continental Bank Note Company in 1875 as part of a special printing for sale to the public. These were similar to the regular issue stamps being reprinted at the same time, except the Official Issues had a "Specimen" overprint. A very fine example of this rare specimen overprint Official Issue.
