Scott # 13; 91851-57 Issue 10c Washington Type I Pair on Cover to France1855 10c green Washington Type I pair and a 1c blue Franklin Type IV single on cover paying the twenty-one cent American Packet treaty rate from Vermillionville, Louisiana, to Noroy-Le-Bourg via England. The 10c Type I pair is sound with margins all around to just touching the bottom of the right stamp. The 1c single has minor faults, along with blue grid & lightened manuscript cancels on all three stamps. Cover has a red “New-York Am. Pkt. Oct 11” exchange office & a black Havre “Paq. Ama.” circular date stamps. Additionally, the cover includes Paris, Noroy-Le-Bourg receiving back stamps and a neat black oval merchant’s handstamp on the front. Minor cover wear and small sealed tear at bottom do not detract in the least from this wonderful trans-Atlantic cover, bearing an especially rare 1855 10c Type I pair!
