Complete Set of 1869 Pictorial Issue Atlanta Trial Color Proofs

Complete set of all seventy-eight 1881 Atlanta Trial Color Proofs of the 1869 Pictorial Issue. All the proofs have large margins and striking colors. The single color denominations of the 1869 Issue were produced in five colors - black, scarlet, brown, green & blue. The 15c & 24c bi-color issues were produced with twelve different color combinations. The 30c Issue has fourteen different color combinations and the 90c has ten different color combinations.

Only one sheet of 100 of each color was prepared by the Post Office Department for display at the 1881 International Cotton Exhibition held in Atlanta, Georgia. This is an exciting set. Assuming none were lost or destroyed in the last 125 years, at most only 100 of each proof are known!

This is one of only three complete Pictorial Issue Atlanta Trial Color Proof sets known to us. A unique opportunity to own one of the greatest and most scarce sets of United States trial color proofs.
